On Education, see "About the Moshav."
Aderet is a young community, with many children. In addition to two kindergardens and a library, activities for children include:
- Tae Kwon Do
- Creative Movement
- Fine Arts
- English
- Children's services on Shabbat
- After-school study and tutoring
- Students of the Mechina (Pre-Army) Program offer additional chugim (guitar, basketball, art, etc.).
- Several children and adults on the Moshav take music lessons in Beit Shemesh or have music teachers come to their homes.
- Additional activities are offered at local art and community centers in the area (Beit Shemesh, Gush Etzion, Kibbutz Tzora, and the local moshavim).
Bnei Akiva
Children from third grade through high school participate in Aderet's branch of Bnei Akiva. They meet weekly on Tuesday and every other Shabbat. Most of the madrichim come from Gush Etzion and spend every second Shabbat here on the Moshav. Their activities have become an integral part of Moshav life for our youth.
Sports
for Adults
- Walking and biking trails in our area.
- Full-moon bike ride
- Saturday night basketball games
- Yoga lessons for women
- Pools nearby, including Bet Guvrin, Srigin, Netiv Ha-lamed Heh, Tzora, and Bet Shemesh
We have four synagogues, three in the North-African nusach and one Ashkenazi. Two have minyans daily and three on Shabbat.
Aderet has a library, located in the community center, with thousands of Hebrew and English books. Founded and operated by volunteers, the library lends books from Aderet's own collection as well as brought in from the large regional library.
Shiurim
- For adults, there are two shiurim taking place every Shabbat between mincha and ma'ariv. One shiur, based on the weekly Torah portion, is given in Hebrew on a voluntary, rotating basis by members of the community. A Talmud shiur is given in English by a Rabbi from the community.
- For children of kindergarten age, there is a children's service every Shabbat morning at 9:15.
- For school-age children there is a class in Torah chanting (ta'amei hamikra) on Shabbat afternoons.
- Following shaharit on Shabbat mornings there is a parent-child study session followed by a brief shiur for the children.
- For third grade and above, there is a regular Mishna class held during the week.
Youth and Community Activity Director ("Anakit")
The Activity Director organizes a variety of activities for all age groups, including films, hikes, field trips and other events, as well as directing volunteer and donation drives for various needs in the community.
Our community marks holidays and important yearly events (end of the school year, etc.) with joint community activities organized by different families on a voluntary, rotating basis.
